On Tuesday, June 16th, Myriam successfully defended her PhD thesis entitled "Adaptation to Microenvironmental Stress in Glioblastoma - Mechanistic Studies and Potential Targets" at Lund University. Held at Belfragesalen, BMC D15 building at 9:15 in the morning, the session was chaired by Dr. Anders Wittrup.
Under the supervision of Mattias Belting and co-supervision of Johan Bengzon and Charlotte Wellinder, her research focused on understanding the mechanistic adaptation of glioblastoma cells, how they survive under microenvironmental stress and presented with potential novel fronts for targeted therapies.
The audience was impressed with Myriam's work and the great scientific discussion lead by Professor Cathy Merry, a Stem Cell Glycobiology specialist from the University of Nottingham. At the end of the defense, the professors unanimously agreed that Myriam had passed with flying colors, and she is now officially a PhD graduate thanks to her hard work and dedication to the field of glioblastoma research.
We are looking forward to seeing more of her great work in the future.
The Tumor Microenvironment Lab congratulates Myriam on her success and wishes her the best of luck in her future endeavors.
